Building Light Boxes to Grow Fast Plants
Students worked collaboratively to build light boxes out of crates, foil, zipties, and cfl bulbs.
Next, they created self-watering planters out of used water bottles and old t-shirts.
They then planted Wisconsin Fast Plants to observe their life cycle.
Students documented changes and observations in plant journals.
They cross-polinated their plants, and harvested the seeds.

Co-Teaching Biodiversity Unit with
Mr. Kirchhofer from Rock Bridge H.S.
I incorporated using technology as a method of lesson delivery for my PBL with my 7th graders. Mr. Kirchhofer and I created a video tutorial for a biodiversity activity that my students were to complete. Within the first day of posting on Teachertube, we had 2,000 views. We were also featured as the top video on the front page of Teachertube for two consecutive weeks and as the top science video for 3 weeks. We currently have 5,950 views and the video has been posted for 1 month. Students said they really enjoyed watching the video, and that it helped them learn the game that went along with our activity. I will continue to implement creating videos as instructional tools.
